déjà vu! Another trip to the ER!!
Not minding, as usual, and the gracelessness they inherited from me landed us back in the ER.
Apparently “let’s start getting ready for bed” translates into “run around like fools”
Gabe fell and cracked his head. He just shook it off and got up to keep playing. Al noticed his head was bleeding and freaked out. Quick once over by Mom and Dad, and we’re all throwing clothes on and going on the great shoe hunt(seriously, we always lose at least one shoe every time we need one)
Forever in the ER and he ended up with 2 staples and a prescription for Cephalexin(the doc said he didn’t like the way is was looking already). Gabe was such a big brave boy! They skipped the topical numbing stuff and went with the shot and Gabe never even so much as made a face. He sat there yapping away the whole time, and while they put the staples in. I expected at least a few tears, but there was nothing!
I actually remembered my camera. Sad, I know, but after I saw Gabe wasn’t bleeding to death(he seriously just wanted a band-aid and to go back to playing) I thought, “Hm. Picture of the day, I guess.” Fat lot of good it did to remember. I was completely floored–after we sat there for 2 hours(good thing he wasn’t bleeding that bad) we found out only one of us could go back with Gabe. I was so stunned I left all the stuff in the waiting room with Brandy(camera, insurance and SS card). We went to Ripley with E and we all piled back there(honestly, shocked as I am to be saying it, the people in Ripley were a lot nicer, too!). I’m not too thrilled with the look I got when I told them what happened. It was one of those “Yeah, I bet he “fell” down” looks. The next 15 times we were asked what happened I let Gabe do the talking. They got the same long story every time; he gave them the complete play by play-where Al and E were when he fell, how he fell, what they were doing, what they said, how he just wanted a band-aid, all of it. I stood there with my go-to-hell-bitch look on my face. I don’t take too kindly to someone insinuating I’d do something to my babies.
I did get pictures, after we got home(you knew I would, right?) Gabe is so proud of his boo-boo! He says “It’s the most awesome boo-boo EVER!” Boys….does anything phase them that should?
